"Rospotrebnadzor" has started to remove from circulation the nutritional supplements with Armenian registration

Rospotrebnadzor withdrew from circulation more than 118,000 packages of biologically active supplements registered in Armenia, which contain simethicone (a medicine that reduces flatulence) and melatonin (a hormone that regulates circadian rhythms). About thisVedomosti", the representative of the department's press service informed, adding that conscientious manufacturers of food additives are involved in the detection of such additives.

A working group was created together with them. It deals with the issues of registration of additives and prevention of circulation of food additives with banned substances in Russia, he added.

In particular, as noted by Rospotrebnadzor, synthetic medicinal substances and hormones (simethicone and melatonin), which are not essential nutritional factors, are prohibited in dietary supplements. Simethicone and melatonin are registered as pharmaceutical substances and independent medicines, he added.

In general, the service, while monitoring the unified register of state registration certificates of goods, found 48 biologically active food additives that do not meet the mandatory requirements of the Customs Union Acts registered by the RA authorities. According to the department, this poses a risk for unsafe products to appear in circulation.

"Rospotrebnadzor" also informed the Eurasian Economic Commission, so that the Ministry of Economy of Armenia checks the validity of the certificates issued for the state registration of supplements.
