Qatar has said that Israel is blocking the conclusion of an agreement on Gaza

The position of the Israeli leadership prevents the signing of an agreement on the establishment of a ceasefire regime in the Gaza Strip. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani, informed about this.

"Qatar has been acting as a mediator since the beginning of the conflict. We have been working on it for more than a year, but unfortunately [agreement] requires the presence of both parties. One of the parties does not want to seal it. Whatever we do as mediators, the result remains the same. You know about obstacles. Especially recently, the Israeli side is an obstacle," he said in an interview on Qatar Television.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani emphasized that despite Doha's "consistency, clear and well-known position" in support of the Palestinian people, the Qatari side as a mediator "acts fairly and transparently". According to him, Qatar will continue to make efforts for the settlement of the conflict.

"Given the presence of Al-Udeid base or other [facilities] in Qatar, Qatar will not accept any attacks from its territory or [launching] wars against peoples or countries in the region or outside its borders," he said while responding in Doha. To the question about the use of El-Udeid Air Base, which is considered the largest US military facility in the Middle East, to support Israel's operations in the Gaza Strip. The politician added that Qatar and the US are "strategic partners at different levels", but these relations do not affect the sovereign decisions of Doha and Washington. According to him, "the USA understands this and does not interfere" in Qatar's internal affairs.
