The Italian engineering group, the Airbus Aeronako Company and Thales Defense Company, are preparing an alliance for a joint project to develop a joint project in the field of satellite technology, citing the leader of the Italian holding Roberto Chingolan.
In December 2024, the Western media reported that Leonardo, Airbus and Thales are discussing the joint space company to compete with the Starlink satellite network.
"European Defense Giant Leonardo hopes to discover a satellite alliance with Airbus and Thales in a few months, as the continent is looking for an alternative to Ilon Musk Starlink," the TV channel website said.
As Leonardo's head told the TV channel, the companies are currently working together and try to find out if their alliance will be economically profitable and will be acceptable in terms of anti-monopoly law.
