Rafael Grossi, General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), considers the possibility of nominating itself as UN Secretary General. He told reporters in Buenos Aires.
"The process of electing Antonio Guterresh's legal successor has not started yet. The process will begin at the end of the year, when the call to submit applications in the UN General Assembly will be announced. I consider that opportunity, "La Nacion quotes Grossi as saying.
The second five-year period of Guterresh will end on December 31 2026. Grossi has been holding the position of General Director of the IAEA since 2019.
