Hungary hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump will lead to normalization of relations between the two countries and peace in Ukraine, which will improve the situation in Central Europe. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Syyarto, answering the question of TASS as part of the "Raisina Dialogue" political science conference.
"I hope that Putin and Trump will agree on how to normalize relations between the United States and Russia, as we have historical experience in Central Europe. The better the relations between the United States and Russia, the better for us, "he said.
"When the United States and Russia had bad relations, it was bad for us. But when they had good relations, our condition was much better, and our region is much safer. Therefore, we hope that President Trump and President Putin can agree on how to normalize relations between the United States and Russia and how to peace in Ukraine, "he added.
According to him, "if they can agree on how to make peace, peace can return to Central Europe."
