Before COP29, Gagik Baghunts, acting as the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, participated in the protest in front of the UN Office in Armenia demanding the immediate release of the Armenian prisoners of war and hostages.
In the conversation with the journalists, he mentioned that although there are no RA state approaches and positions at the basis of their demand, which reduces the possible influence on the Azerbaijani side, but this is not an obstacle for them to carry out actions and attract the attention of the international community.
"We have stated many times that the policy of permanent concessions of the RA authorities in the negotiations with Azerbaijan will in no case lead to the signing of a more or less dignified peace treaty. Regarding the fate of the Armenian prisoners of war and hostages kept in Baku prisons, the policy of the RA authorities is not adequate and the absence of clear, tough demands from the RA side for their release contributes to the fact that the Azerbaijani side presents more and more new demands," he said.
