Italian Prime Minister George Meloni has expressed bewilderment for the meeting of a number of European leaders in Paris on Monday. According to him, the meeting "ruled out" many countries, Askanews reports.
At the same time, the Prime Minister took part in the meeting, late and refusing to comment until it started, reminds the agency.
According to Meloni, a more convenient format will be the Emergency Summit of the Council, which will provide a broader representation of the countries. However, it has not yet been convened due to disagreements within the EU, in particular, due to Hungary's position on Russia, the agency writes.
All states are experiencing the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, not only those who attended the meeting, said the Italian Prime Minister. He expressed skepticism about the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine to confirm a ceasefire.
In his opinion, it will be the "most difficult" and "non-effective" solution. According to Meloni, it is necessary to study other options that involve more active participation in the United States, as it is in the context of NATO that "European and American security is being built."
