The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated in the Mother See under the presiding authority of His Holiness the Patriarch (photos)

The Mother See celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This was reported by the Information Center of the Mother See.

On February 14, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, the 40-day-old baby Jesus, the beginning of which was announced on the evening of February 13.

On the occasion of the Feast of the Lord, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, accompanied by a solemn procession of clergy, entered the Mother Cathedral, where the Evening Service was celebrated under the presiding authority of His Holiness the Patriarch.

The Service was followed by the Feast of the Presentation, and then the first Andastan Order of the year took place, during which the four corners of the world were blessed.

Then, under the hymn “Christ is Glorious,” His Holiness transmitted the life-giving light of Jesus Christ to the faithful present with a lit candle from the lampstand of the Holy Table of the Descent of the Mother Cathedral.

At the end of the ceremony, the procession of the clergy headed to the enclosure of the monastic building of the Mother See, where, in the presence of many faithful Armenians, the fire of the Assumption of the Lord was lit by the Patriarch of All Armenians. His Holiness also presented crosses to the faithful Armenians.

The feast of the Assumption of the Lord has been declared by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, as a day of blessing for newlyweds.

In this regard, on February 14, at the end of the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Mother Cathedral and in all churches, a blessing ceremony for newlyweds will be performed.
