“When are you going to change the name of Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan or change Ararat Mirzoyan?” asked Gegham Manukyan, a member of the “Armenia” faction, addressing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly.
Ararat Mirzoyan responded on the spot: “You are very, very cheap.”
NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, who was chairing the session, ordered the opposition MP to turn off his microphone, saying: “I suggest you stay within your limits, because I will start giving similar examples.”
Pashinyan approached the podium and stated: “Mr. Manukyan, if I had been given the authority to change names, I would first start with you and your political leaders, and I am sure that I would not have any occasion to use that authority against other people, because such an occasion would not exist. And in your case, why do I say that, because you are the one who created that occasion, and you created that occasion a little while ago, right now.”
