The Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church has responded to the statements of the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan about Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians: "It is sad to hear such irresponsible statements about Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians from an official with the extremely responsible title of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Such short-sighted and ambitious words not only cannot contribute to the solution of the problems in our homeland, to ensuring the national unity that we need so much like air and water, but on the contrary, they maximally deepen the dividing lines of fragmentation artificially introduced into our people.
Moreover, for people with spiritual vision and perception, the real reasons for such behavior are clearly visible. The greatest sin committed by the first people in Paradise was not eating the forbidden fruit, but in response to God's question, shifting the sin from themselves to someone else and not repenting.
This phenomenon has been present throughout human history and its overcoming is possible only through Christianity, which teaches us to see our sin first of all and be responsible for our steps.
After the 44-day Artsakh war, the 9-month-old Artsakh During the blockade and after the forced displacement in 2023, a large part of our people has painfully taken root in the destructive approach of removing guilt and responsibility from themselves, which was based on such short-sighted and divisive statements made repeatedly at the highest level, and the latest statement by the NA Speaker was merely an update of the above-mentioned approach.
We do not consider it necessary to dwell in detail on the heroic resistance shown by our people, who suffered the hardships of the 9-month blockade, on September 19, 2023, because according to the biblical saying, “He who has eyes to see, will see,” and he who does not have the desire to see reality will never see.
But the greatest pain is that those who know the reality best, who officially refused to help Artsakh in 2023, do not hesitate to distort reality again, again and again pouring salt on the unhealed wounds of the homelandless people of Artsakh, while also ignoring the feat of hundreds of our sons who were martyred in 2023.
We pray that God will give wisdom to our people so that nothing and no one becomes a reason for artificial tension and intolerance towards each other.
The stronger the love, forgiveness and unity in our homeland, the sooner all our cherished desires and dreams will come true, which we are sure is the desire of every Armenian.
