The police will have 24/7 access to video surveillance systems installed from the outside of state and local government bodies, parking lots, airports, and state border crossing points.
The National Assembly adopted the package of draft laws in the first reading with 61 votes in favor, 29 abstentions, and 7 votes against.
Let us recall that the NA discussed the draft, in case of its adoption, the police will request and receive video recordings, as well as have 24/7 access to video surveillance systems installed from the outside of the following areas:
State bodies of the RA,
Local self-government bodies, bodies and institutions of state and community organizations,
parking lots,
airports,
state border crossing points.
Let us recall that in 2024 On November 11, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that it was freezing the further progress of the project to install cameras in public places, which was adopted in the first reading by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on June 12, 2024.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that a phased solution to the problem is being discussed, in particular, the approach of providing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia with access to the video surveillance systems of state and local self-government bodies.
