Former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan issued a statement:
“Dear compatriots,
As a result of our protest against the increase in transport prices, the authorities were forced to make concessions recently and mitigate the wave of price increases. They are already demanding 150 drams for a single ticket instead of 300, and they also made concessions in other packages.
In any case, together with you, we demand that the price for one trip be set at 100 drams.
Today, our project, approved with the above-mentioned demand and 80,000 signatures, was finally discussed at the council of elders’ meeting.
As expected, the CP and its client “Republic” party voted against our project.
In any case, we see that our joint struggle is bearing fruit,
therefore, THE BOYCOTT CONTINUES!!!
At the moment, the collections are very low, which will force the city government to back down once again.
This is a long-term struggle that will surely have ultimate success.
