The “National Progress” faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders has submitted a draft proposal to introduce a single-use ticket worth 100 drams, with an activation (use) period of 10 days from the moment of purchase, with the possibility of making one trip.
This draft was included in the agenda of the Council of Elders meeting to be held on February 12.
The justification for the draft, in particular, states:
"In order to mitigate social injustice, not to aggravate the already difficult situation of low-income citizens, and to increase the attractiveness of public transport, it is necessary to maintain the possibility of a one-time passenger transport ticket for 100 drams, while simultaneously seeking ways to finance and subsidize the transport system, in particular, to direct additional funds to the maintenance of the transport system at the expense of fees collected from citizens with higher incomes, bearing in mind that the organization of high-quality public passenger transport affects not only the quality of life of transport users themselves, but also all traffic participants and, in general, city residents."
