The Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia N.S. O. T. T. Aram A. His Holiness addressed a letter to the United States President Donald Trump, calling for steps to release Armenian captives in Azerbaijan.
Aram I congratulated Trump on the inauguration and celebrated his commitment to world peace. He referred to the previous statements of Trump, condemning Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing of Artsakh's Armenian population, its support for Armenians, their homeland.
His Holiness called on Trump to intervene and achieve the immediate and unconditional release of Armenian prisoners, including former leaders of Artsakh, who are subject to closed trials without maintaining legal norms and international control. He stressed that such a step will contribute to regional stability, the strengthening of goodwill and will meet the peacekeeping mission announced by Trump.
Aram I ended the letter with hope of continuing the dialogue on these urgent humanitarian issues.
