Erdogan confirmed his participation in the BRICS summit

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, confirmed his participation in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sherpa of the Russian Federation in BRICS, Sergey Ryabkov. "President Erdoğan confirmed his participation in the session of the 16th BRICS summit in the format of "outreach"/BRICS plus", he said during the press conference dedicated to the preparation for the summit.

Ryabkov noted that now the task of the BRICS countries is to integrate already accepted members, but the doors of the association remain open.

At the same time, according to his words, BRICS expansion is not an end in itself. The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that there will be no requirements for the countries that want to join BRICS, but there will be certain criteria. He also announced a report on the possible new status of the "BRICS partner" during the upcoming summit. The expansion of the association can be discussed during the summit in Kazan, which will be held on October 22-24.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, during the meeting with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus, noted that he is waiting for a meeting with his Turkish colleague within the framework of the summit. Separate negotiations are planned with Erdogan.
