Journalist Lika Tumanyan referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on the Armenian Genocide on her Facebook page.
"Actually, you want to go down in history not only as the person who surrendered Artsakh, but also as the person who closed the page on the Armenian Genocide. When Turkey denies the Armenian Genocide for decades, it is monstrous, but understandable.
They defend their lies, the myth of their infallibility. But when your own prime minister starts speaking the language of our executioners, this is not just a betrayal of the memory of one and a half million tortured Armenians. this is a betrayal of the very essence of our national existence. What about later?
Shall we say that our great-grandfathers were exiled to the desert by their own will? That women and children voluntarily went to die? Which photos of pyramids of skulls are staged shots? That the testimonies of foreign diplomats and missionaries are a mass hallucination?
For centuries, our enemies have dreamed that we ourselves would begin to doubt our history. Today, their dream is being realized by the hands of those who were supposed to protect this history. This is not diplomacy, this is capitulation. This is not a "new view of historical events", it is a betrayal of national interests in their most basic understanding.
Let's remind that Nikol Pashinyan stated that we still need to understand what happened during the Armenian Genocide, why and through whom we perceived the Armenian Genocide.
"We need to return to the history of the Armenian Genocide, we need to understand, well, what happened and why it happened, and how we perceived it, through whom we perceived it, how come there was no agenda for the Armenian Genocide in 1939, And how is it that the Armenian Genocide appeared on the agenda in 1950? Should we understand this or not?", stated the Prime Minister.
