Congress has called for rescinding the executive order ending American aid to other countries

A number of Democratic congressmen have addressed a letter to the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging him to cancel the decree on the suspension of aid to other countries, adopted by the country's President Donald Trump at the beginning of the week. "RIA Novosti" informs about it.

"We call for the immediate restoration of funding for existing US foreign aid programs so we can continue to meet our commitments and save lives," the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Democrats said in the letter.

The congressmen noted that for the United States, foreign aid is a strategic investment that meets the country's national interests and ensures the survival of the people of many countries that depend on the delivery of aid.

Earlier, Trump signed an order to suspend the provision of development assistance to other countries for 90 days to assess the program's compliance with US foreign policy.
