"There is a shameful situation in RA penitentiary institutions.
The lack of basic conditions and improper treatment motivate the imprisoned persons to resort to extreme measures: hunger strike, self-harm, suicide. In recent years, many cases of death and suicide in prisons should be taken as an alarm.
I have repeatedly spoken about the fact that, in case of need, prisoners are often not provided with the necessary medication and medical services, which leads to serious consequences. It seems that nobody is interested in the health condition of these people. There are many unsolved problems in penitentiary institutions, related to water quality, lack of shelves, and in general, lack of furniture.
I spoke about all this months ago. I had working meetings with the already former Deputy Minister of Justice, to whom we conveyed our recommendations. I also spoke about these problems in the presence of the newly appointed minister.
Here, the HRD had to have its work, which, as a result of the tours, had to personally record all these problems, demanding urgent solutions from the authorities. "Unfortunately, neither this person nor the former and current Ministers of Justice are taking any steps to correct the situation, to review the treatment of imprisoned persons."
