A fraudulent scheme to defraud children has been uncovered at Wildberries

The combined company Wildberries and Russ has revealed a new fraud scheme aimed at children, TASS reports with reference to the company's press service.

According to Euromedia24.com, the scheme looks like this: Scammers create fake messenger accounts on behalf of game bloggers, then the potential victim receives a message from their "favorite blogger" with a lucrative offer, such as buying in-game items at a low price. Once the child agrees, they are asked to enter their parent's card details or username and password.

After receiving the information, fraudsters buy various digital products from popular marketplaces, such as currency for gaming platforms, gift certificates, etc. The goods are then resold at a significant discount. The only way to try to get your money back is to go to the police.

"Wildberries estimates, based on a sample of cases discovered over the past month, that such a scheme threatens market customers with potential losses of about 350 million rubles over the coming year," the company said.
