The Australian model listed 118 reasons why she does not want to have a child

When Australian model Ellie Gonsalves listed all 118 reasons why she doesn't want to have children, she was called vain, selfish and even a "bad mother".

"People think that I hate children," the model told Stellar, "But I hug my niece and nephew with love. I love little children."

The 33-year-old woman, who has five million followers on Facebook and Instagram, sparked a public debate about motherhood by publishing her list of reasons in November of this year.

"For years I have been asked why I don't want to have children, and I made this list because I always felt that a short explanation was not convincing or clear enough," he wrote next to his list.

Among the reasons, he mentioned hair loss during pregnancy, overpopulation of the planet, and the fact that the child can become a serial killer.

Although there have been many critics, Gonsalves said she has also received words of thanks from women who felt the same but were afraid to speak up.

"It is important for me to be the voice of these people. This is also an opportunity for people who don't want to have a child to get a little more sympathy," he said.

Gonsalves, who has been married to Ross Scutts for 15 years, says they have "worked very, very hard for their peace". "Now we just don't want to disturb that peace," he added, "Incorporating one more person into our dynamic routine would radically change the situation."

According to him, strained relations with his own mother also contributed to this decision.

Speaking to The Courier Mail this week, Gonsalves opened up about his beloved father's suicide.

“When my father died, I needed a break to just think. This was a real turning point in my life. I didn't just lose my father, I actually made the decision to walk away from what I knew and what was comfortable for me... People should have wonderful, supportive families. But for many it is unrealistic.
