"Fact" daily writes:
The lawyers of businessman Karen Hakobyan appealed the decision to extend the detention on November 21 last year, clearly stating its inadmissibility, and are still waiting for the appeal court's position.
The latter, by the way, had already postponed the decision once. The second time the court postponed the decision to the last day of the working year 2024, December 30, setting it for January 9 via oral procedure.
By the way, it should be noted that in this particular case, three more detention petitions were submitted from September 20, 2024, but no other person, except for Karen Hakobyan, has been detained since December 20, 2024.
The fact that only businessman K. Hakobyan continues to be detained, it is remarkable in itself also from the point of view that the charges against him are significantly lower than those of other defendants.
According to the information we have, a complaint to the European Court is also being prepared, in which the bases of differentiated approaches to Karen Hakobyan and a number of procedural violations will be outlined.
It is in such situations that both experts and the European Court assess the use of detention as a punishment, which is a gross violation of the law.
