Erdogan assessed the damage done to Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Syria has suffered more than 500 billion dollars in damage and called on the Arab countries to support the country's recovery. "RIA Novosti" informs about it.

"We are experiencing a period of very important events in our region.

The events taking place in our neighboring Syria are of particular interest to us in all aspects. Our teams that visited Syria also say that the situation on the ground is much worse than expected. It is clear that Syria needs some time to recover, as well as support from the Arab and Islamic world. It is important for the international community to make a greater contribution to this process," said the head of Turkey. At the end of November 2024, armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack against the positions of the Syrian army. On December 8, they entered Damascus, Bashar al-Assad resigned from the position of the president of Syria and left the country.

On December 10, Mohammed al-Bashir, who led the so-called rescue government in Idlib province, announced his appointment as head of the Syrian government for a transitional period that will last until March 1, 2025.
