The Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs called on the members of the former regime to hand over their weapons immediately

The Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which operates within the framework of the transitional government, has called on the members of the deposed President Bashar al-Assad's regime to immediately hand over their weapons to the competent authorities.

"As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure security and stability throughout the country, we call on members of the former regime or citizens who find weapons left over from the deposed regime in various areas to immediately hand over these weapons to the competent authorities," SANA quoted the department as saying.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the transitional government, Mohammed Abdel Rahman, the authorities have set a deadline for handing over the weapons to the members of the former regime and the population.

"If the weapons are not handed over to the authorities by the end of the specified period, the competent authorities will take deterrent legal measures against those who have weapons," he added. The message does not specify any date.

The minister emphasized that the government's steps are being implemented "within the framework of strengthening national security and maintaining the safety of citizens, as well as state and private property." He called on the citizens to "follow the instructions and instructions of the authorities in order to bring them to legal responsibility."
