Hungary realizes that major powers will deal with the organization of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but wants to push the parties to the conflict to establish peace. This was announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. According to him, his visit to Kyiv on July 2 and the meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, were aimed at that goal. Orban also noted that he is aware that Hungary's presidency in the EU Council does not give him the right to negotiate with Russia and Ukraine on behalf of the European Union. He noted that after leaving for Kyiv, he will inform the EU leadership and the leaders of the member states about the results of his meeting with Zelensky. "I don't need a mandate. I just visit the places where there is a war that might affect Hungary and I ask questions. I did this during the meeting with Zelensky, asking him where the red line he defined passes," Orban said. He confirmed the information circulating in the media that he is going to go to Moscow to discuss with Vladimir Putin the ways to settle the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier, during his visit to Kiev, Orban suggested to Zelensky to consider a ceasefire for negotiations with Russia.
