The leaders of Poland and Germany restore good-neighborly relations


The leaders of Poland and Germany held wide-ranging bilateral consultations on Tuesday to give new momentum to the neighborly relations, which had noticeably weakened under the previous government in Warsaw. Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived at the meeting accompanied by 12 ministers, members of the government, including Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Topics on the agenda were historical reconciliation, migration policy and pan-European security cooperation. Scholz and Tusk also discussed the issue of reparations after the Second World War. According to the dpa agency, the parties are "conducting an intensive dialogue on measures to support the survivors of the German aggression and occupation in 1939-1945". Polish Action Plan. Germany is expected to provide a package of financial aid to Poland to protect NATO's eastern flank, as well as to announce compensation for victims of the Nazi occupation living in the country.
