Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has left the presidency and Syria after negotiations with a number of participants in the Syrian conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.

He gave instructions on the peaceful transfer of power.

It is noted that Russia did not participate in the negotiations.

"We call on all parties involved to desist from violence and resolve all governance issues through political means," the department added.
