The amount of transit through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles will increase by 15 percent. Minister of Transport of Turkey

From July 1, Turkey will raise the price of passage of ships through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles by 15 percent. RIA Novosti, with reference to the country's Ministry of Transport, reported that transit through the Strait connecting the Black Sea with Marmara and separating Europe and Asia Minor will become more expensive for the first time in 40 years. In July 2023, the tariff had already been increased by eight percent to 4.42 dollars per franc. . This amount is calculated based on the value of the gold franc in accordance with the 1936 Montreux Convention governing strait navigation. Funds from the tolls are used to provide medical care, emergency evacuation and lighthouse operations. Under the new tariff, transit costs will rise to $5.07 per unit, an increase of nearly 15 percent. According to Turkish Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloglu, until 2022, a ship with a carrying capacity of 10,000 tons paid $3,240 for transit, but from July 1 this amount will be increased to $20,370 with new tariffs. This, in his opinion, will provide an opportunity to ensure the inflow of currency into the country's budget
