There will be no "national Maidan" in Georgia. Irakli Kobakhidze

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that yesterday's events in Tbilisi showed everyone once again that there cannot be a "national Maidan" in the country.

This is reported by the Georgian platform of the Sputnik agency, citing the words of the Prime Minister of Georgia from the briefing.

"For the third year already, European politicians and bureaucrats, who cannot achieve the Ukrainization of Georgia, are constantly trying to use the candidate status and the issue of opening negotiations to weaken the country, provoke so-called polarization and artificially divide the society," said Kobakhidze.

The latter also expressed the opinion that the main responsibility for yesterday's violent rally in Tbilisi is specifically European politicians and bureaucrats, as well as "local agents" - the "fifth column", which is represented by four political parties.

"Yesterday everything became clear to everyone. It's just that the radicals and their foreign sponsors are trying to find an excuse to try to divide Georgia and ukrainize it, they still don't understand that, unlike 2013, Georgia is an independent state with strong institutions and, most importantly, , with experienced and wise people, whose power no one can shake," said the Prime Minister.

According to him, the Maidan scenario cannot be implemented in Georgia.

"Georgia is a state, and the Georgian state will not allow this," emphasized Prime Minister Kobakhidze. During the two days of protests, 42 police officers were injured and more than 150 people were detained.

Demonstrators also needed medical help, but the exact number of victims is not reported. Protests in Georgia continue for the third day, which ended with the dispersal of the demonstrators.

The opposition, their activists and ordinary citizens are protesting against the decision of the Georgian authorities on November 28 to remove from the agenda the opening of negotiations on the country's accession to the European Union until 2028.
