Benny Gantz has resigned from Netanyahu's military cabinet

Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz, who joined the Emergency Military Cabinet after the start of the war against Hamas, has announced his resignation from the government amid disagreements with Prime Minister Netanyahu over the post-war future of the Gaza Strip. Gantz has called on the prime minister to call new general elections. in which it is expected that he will be one of the favorites. Netanyahu's reaction was not late. "Benny, now is not the time to resign, now is the time to unite forces," the Prime Minister wrote in his X microblog. Gantz announced that the other members of his "National Unity" party, who have five mandates in the military cabinet, are also leaving the government. In the 120-seat Knesset, the ruling bloc of right-wing, far-right and religious parties maintains a majority with 64 votes. However, according to analysts, by entering the government, Gantz balanced the influence of several far-right politicians on the prime minister. His departure will deepen Netanyahu's isolation and unpopularity.
