Pompeii's archaeological park plans to limit the number of visitors to 20,000 a day and introduce personalized tickets from next week.

This step is taken to protect the world heritage site.

The decision comes after authorities said more than 4 million people visited Pompeii during the summer tourist season.

The director of the park noted that daily visits exceed 15-20,000 and the new restriction will protect the heritage.
