At the RA Criminal Court of Appeals, under the chairmanship of Judge Garnik Stepanyan, the examination of the appellate complaint in the case of Vazgen Manukyan continued today.
Defense attorney Aram Vardevanyan considered it unjustified. on June 13, the judgment made by the criminal court of the first instance of Yerevan city (judge Vahe Misakyan), by which Vazgen Manukyan was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 400 thousand drams.
According to the lawyer, this criminal case is completely related to the freedom of speech, the restriction of which should imply weighty arguments. Meanwhile, the court act, which is now being appealed, does not have the necessary arguments and justification at all, the context of the situation is not evaluated: who made such a statement and under what conditions.
The prosecuting party also presented its point of view, considering the verdict of the first instance criminal court of Yerevan city to be valid.

Let's remind that Vazgen Manukyan was charged under Article 301 of the RA Criminal Code (public calls aimed at usurping power, violating territorial integrity or forcibly overthrowing the constitutional order).
In Manukyan's case, the defenders filed an appeal, demanding that it be annulled and an acquittal be rendered.
