Narek Babayan, the chairman of the counting committee of the National Assembly, presented the results of the closed secret voting. Out of 107 members of the National Assembly, 66 members participated in the voting.
65 MPs voted in favor, 1 MP voted against. Mesrop Mesropyan's candidacy was nominated by the RA government.
The position of the chairman of the commission was left vacant because Garegin Baghramyan submitted his resignation.
Garegin Baghramyan submitted an application for dismissal from the position of the chairman of the commission on October 10, his powers ceased on October 18.
