Russia has already written off the debts of 20 billion dollars to African countries, and these funds have also been redirected to development projects through the refinancing program. According to the results of the first Russia-Africa ministerial conference, in an interview with TASS, the special representative of the Russian president for the Middle East and African countries, the deputy foreign minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Bogdanov, said this.
"About 20 billion dollars have been written off, we now have a refinancing program to refocus the debts on development projects," said the deputy minister. According to him, in this way, these debts are used "to implement socio-economic projects in this country."
