Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated in the Syunik Marz Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, as a result of coordinated and cooperative work with the investigators of the Ararat Marz Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, the employees of the RA NSS Syunik and Ararat Marz Departments, another case of particularly large-scale illegal drug trafficking was revealed.
2024 On November 4, during the implementation of the operational data received in the Syunik regional department of the RA NSS, at around 12:30 in the area of Meghri community, a tow truck heading to Yerevan was stopped by the officers of the said department and the MIA patrol service and was taken to the Meghri Police Department for the purpose of checking the documents.
During that time, one of the persons hiding in the car on the tow truck threw packages with a drug-like mass from the window of the car, which was noticed and the tow truck was stopped. The person throwing the packages got out of the car and tried to run away, but was prevented. Two 38-year-old and 33-year-old residents of Ararat marz were transferred to the Syunik regional department of the NSS.
Regarding the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Syunik Marz Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, in accordance with Article 399, Part 3, Clause 2 and Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the 38-year-old resident of Ararat Marz had previously promised unidentified persons living in the Republic of Iran to transport the "Marijuana" type of narcotic transferred by them to the territory of the Republic of Armenia to an agreed place.
Citizens of Iran illegally transported four packages filled with "Marijuana" drug across the state border to RA without customs control.
The 38-year-old man, with his 33-year-old fellow villager, in 2024. on November 4, around 10:00, from the relevant area of Meghri city, they illegally acquired the above-mentioned four packages of particularly large sizes, filled with a drug-like substance weighing more than 3.5 kg, and illegally detained a 33-year-old fellow villager. in the "LADA GRANATA" car.
After that, they loaded the said car onto a "Mercedes-Benz 612D" truck belonging to a resident of Syunik region and, according to the agreement with the citizens of the Republic of Iran, in order to leave the packages filled with drugs in a hiding place in the territory of Ararat region, they went to Artashat city.
However, on the Meghri-Yerevan highway, the said tow truck was stopped by the officers of the Syunik Marz Battalion of the Police Patrol Service, and the aforementioned persons were arrested.
In addition, as a result of investigative and operational operations carried out by law enforcement officers, on the same day, around 16:45, at the time of taking packages containing narcotics from a hiding place in Ararat Marz, two residents of the city of Yerevan were arrested by the RA NSS officers, who were transferred to the said place in the Aparan community. the resident
During the arrest of the mentioned persons, the latter fled the scene in his personal "NISSAN" car, during which he threw a plastic bag containing an unknown substance and a notebook from the window of the car, but he was arrested by law enforcement officers near the city of Artashat and was taken to the Ararat regional department of the RA NSS. In the framework of the criminal proceedings, it was carried out by the investigators of the Syunik and Ararat regional investigative departments of the RA Investigative Committee. extensive investigative and other administrative actions are necessary.
During the inspection of the scene on the Meghri-Yerevan highway, 4 packages wrapped in polyethylene and transparent adhesive tape were found in a ravine adjacent to the road.
According to the conclusion of the appointed forensic chemical and forensic botanical complex examination, the substance in the packages is a "Marijuana" drug. with point 2 and point 2 of part 3 of Article 393, and two of Yerevan city and Aparan city residents, according to part 3 of Article 396 of the RA Criminal Code.
Motions were submitted to the court to apply detention as a preventive measure against the five mentioned persons, which were granted. The investigation is ongoing.
Measures are being taken to identify the possible involvement of other persons in the drug trafficking chain, as well as to identify the source(s) of the acquisition of the drugs.
