The Armenian para-athletics team will participate in the world ranking championship in Japan

The Armenian para-athletics team, with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, left for Japan to participate in the 2024 World Sports Championship.

The Ministry of Sport and Sports of the Republic of Armenia informs that paraathletes Sargis Stepanyan (shot put, F55 group) and Smbat Karapetyan (wheelbarrow 100m, T54 group) went to the competition.

Sargis Stepanyan's competition is scheduled for May 17, and Smbat Karapetyan's for May 23.

The team will compete in the World Championship under the leadership of senior coach Hovhannes Gevorgyan. Coach Gevorg Stepanyan also left for the competition.

Earlier, the RA government provided additional support of 12 million 500 thousand drams for obtaining the participation rating for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, as well as for the preparation of Armenian athletes for the Games.

In particular, it is planned to ensure the participation of Armenian representatives in the World Cup of Para-Athletics to be held in Switzerland in June, as well as the World Cup of Para-Powerlifting.

According to the results of the mentioned tournaments, if tickets are obtained, the participation of RA representatives in the Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held from August 28 to September 8, 2024 in Paris, will be ensured.
