The withdrawal of Israeli troops from the southern regions and the return of displaced persons are national priorities for all of Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun said on a visit to the southern city of Nabatieh and met with the local community.
"We are not currently negotiating with Israel and demand the withdrawal of its troops and the return of prisoners and displaced persons," he said. "Our state is currently working to rebuild the destroyed cities, and my visit to Nabatieh demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the authorities to fulfilling their obligations to their citizens." Aoun stressed that the authorities have heard the public's calls for help from Nabatieh, Tyre and Arab Salem.
"We cannot remain indifferent and will do everything to support you and provide you with everything you need to ensure your resistance," the politician said.
On September 9, following the instructions of the president, the Lebanese Army Command sent military reinforcements and intensified security operations in the southern part of Nabatieh Governorate following intense Israeli shelling. According to the Ministry of Health, 27 people were killed and 69 were injured in the airstrikes.
