Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Internet is full of unreliable information and has stressed the important role of teachers in helping children navigate this information flow. He made the remarks during a meeting with teachers, students and trainees of pedagogical courses, TASS reported.
“Unfortunately, there is a lot of information garbage on the Internet, there is a lot of unreliable things. And for a teacher to help understand it, this is a difficult task,” Putin said.
According to him, the development of the Internet and artificial intelligence has created a huge information space that is accessible to almost everyone, including children.
“But understanding this huge information field is the task of a teacher: to help a young person find what is important, to separate the wheat from the chaff. This is what is important,” the president noted.
Putin emphasized that a teacher’s ability to orient students in the information space is directly related to trust in him and his authority.
“Only an authoritative person can fully fulfill another function, of an educational nature,” the head of state said.
In his opinion, a teacher should help to educate “the best human qualities” in children, including respect for oneself and others, as well as for one’s country.
Putin noted that Russia has traditions in the field of education, which, in his opinion, need to be combined with the widespread introduction of modern technologies and innovations.
