The “Hraparak” newspaper writes: “KP MP Garik Sargsyan has sued reserve colonel Mihran Makhsudyan. The reason is Makhsudyan’s interview with “Hraparak” on May 4, in which the latter noted: “Garik Sargsyan was crying, saying, ‘I have children,’ begging me not to take him to the battlefield.”
This sentence so angered former regional governor, now MP Garik Sargsyan, that he went to court and demanded a retraction, as well as 6 million drams as compensation for defamation. In an interview with us, Makhsudyan noted that the incident he spoke about in his interview actually happened. “Garik Sargsyan does not deny that he came to me and asked me not to go to war, but he wants a retraction that he did not kneel or cry. In fact, he admits that he came to me to avoid the war,” Makhsudyan said.
However, the reserve colonel does not have a lawyer in this case, although the first court hearing has been set for September 9. “I have lawyers in the other criminal case against me, Hovhannes Khudoyan and Anna Mantashyan, they are defending my interests completely free of charge and I feel uncomfortable asking them to deal with this case as well, but I need a lawyer, I still don’t know how I can resolve this issue and who to turn to,” he said.
