"Hraparak" writes: The animals of the private zoo belonging to Gagik Tsarukyan were illegally confiscated after the criminal proceedings against him and his arrest. One of the lions died due to the negligence or deliberate behavior of the transporters. Crocodiles and tigers were also moved. And the deer, roe deer, mouflons and bezoar goats were not moved to the Yerevan Zoo, as Ashot Aslanyan, deputy director of Yerevan Zoo for Scientific Affairs, told us in a conversation.
With this professional group, we gave a preliminary assessment regarding the types of animals there and their welfare conditions. Our conclusion was unequivocally that there is no need to take them from there, because they live in semi-free conditions, there is no factor endangering life and well-being, because they have water, feed, a large free space, and there is no need to take them from there. Based on our petition, the investigative team decided not to transfer them from there.
There were mouflons and bezoar goats listed in the list, but since they were in normal conditions, we simply registered that these animals were there, but there was no point in confiscating them, removing them from there," he said.
Why was the decision made to move the swans, crocodiles, lions and tigers, in this case the storage conditions were not appropriate? Ashot Aslanyan mentioned: "They were kept in separate closed areas, apparently, the decision of the investigators was based on the fact that the caretaker had to go to them there, feed them, follow them, etc." It should be noted that 4 tigers, 3 lions, 9 crocodiles and 13 swans were transferred from the private zoo of Gagik Tsarukyan to the Yerevan zoo.
