Former Armenian ambassador to the Holy See Mikael Minasyan writes:
"Tomorrow marks the 4th year since the Armenian people began to deny the most deplorable and cruel page of their history of the 21st century, the defeat. A capitulation that started much bigger defeats that are still going on. Everyone knows. the main reason for the defeat is the revolution. Accepting the defeat, realizing its reasons, our society would come to a painful conclusion. they have their share of responsibility in that defeat. After that, he had to accept the fact that the revolutionary government was unprepared, incompetent, traitorous and capitulating.
It was the only logical way of self-preservation. But that didn't happen. Instead, another path was chosen, entangled with strange and psychological complications. the people decided to forget the defeat, because they could not sacrifice their "sacred cow", the revolution, could not accept the treachery and bankruptcy of the government they formed. He could not admit that he made a mistake. And he forgot the defeat, starting a deadly chain and more fatal mistakes. The public consensus was from all sides. Since the society and the government were responsible for the defeat, they decided not to notice it, then not to consider it a defeat, and then to authorize the same government to continue the post-war negotiations, forgetting a very important fact. equals are negotiating, and the defeated leader of the defeated country can beg as much as possible and bide his time, giving what he can or what they demand, because if the final capitulation is signed, it will be the collapse of the Armenian legend "we are not defeated".
For 4 years now, new ones have been added to the chain of oblivion. at first it was forgotten that it was a defeat, then the prisoners were forgotten, then the soldiers of the Jermuk positions, unarmed and left to their fate. It was forgotten that he handed over the security zones connecting Artsakh without a single shot, and with the direct signature of the de facto government, several strategic roads in the Syunik marz were handed over, after which he allowed to occupy several other strategic places and heights of Armenia without resistance, continuing to disguise this as border demarcation. depriving Armenia of all kinds of defense zones.
In the end, Artsakh was lost as a result of illiteracy, betrayal, meanness and stupidity. The government handed it over with the tacit agreement of the public. And as the free fall continues, a new collective formula was formed. "Stay like this, it's good." But every time one circumstance prevents us from forgetting, not noticing, living with the "new normal". the reality. Because "this way" will definitely not stay, and it is not like that anymore. It's already bad. And there is no realistic scenario in which it will be good. The history of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people has no chance of a positive outcome until the 44-day defeat is recorded as the zero point of our new restart, until it is fixed as the basis of all problems, until the culprits and those responsible for the defeat are clarified.
The patient must understand that he is sick in order to start the treatment. You have to understand that you have cancer, and after that, with awareness, energy, drugs, try everything to defeat the disease, try to stay alive. Ignoring the deadly disease, you refuse to live. The same at the public level. Until we understand that the defeat of the 44-day war is the core of all our problems today and in the future, until we understand the reasons for that defeat and identify and punish the culprits, there will be no dignified, safe and secure future or country.
