The authorities of Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz for shipping only if the US accepts Tehran's conditions and stops interfering in the internal affairs of the region.
Hossein Mohebi, representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced this, TASS reports.
"The opening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the full acceptance of Iran's conditions by the United States and the refusal of the American side to interfere in the process of regional negotiations. As soon as the US accepts Iran's conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will undoubtedly open," he said.
On August 5, Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Esmail Baghai announced that Iran and Oman agreed on the geographical coordinates of the new route through the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, he emphasized that the future agreement between Tehran and Muscat does not imply the immediate opening of the strait, that issue depends on the actions of the USA.
