US President Donald Trump has already decided in private conversations that Vice President J.D. Vance should be the Republican Party's presidential candidate in the 2028 elections, the Washington Post reports, citing sources.
As the publication notes, Trump recently told party donors that he would like to see Vance win the 2028 presidential election. "The adviser to the president, who was familiar with the conversation with the donors, said that Trump had already decided in private messages that Vance should be the heir to the leadership of the Republican Party," the publication said.
It is also noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom Trump presented as a possible Republican presidential candidate, is trying to avoid any talk about the 2028 presidential election.
