India, which is the country that chairs BRICS, has sent invitations to the heads of states and governments to participate in the summit of the group scheduled for September. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, during the briefing.
"We are preparing and have already sent invitations," he said, without giving details or indicating whether any responses had been received. According to Jaiswal, invitations have also been sent to heads of several international associations to participate in the information session.
Earlier, a government source told TASS that India has sent an invitation to Russia to participate in the upcoming BRICS summit. India is the country that chairs BRICS this year. The 18th BRICS summit will be held in New Delhi on September 12-13. The main theme of India's presidency is "Strengthening Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainable Development".
