FIFA President Gianni Infantino is exploring the possibility of selling a 20-30% stake in a new company that will hold World Cup rights and manage the tournament. The value of the business under the possible deal is estimated at around 15 billion pounds.
FIFA will retain a controlling stake, while national football associations and private investors will be able to obtain minority stakes. According to media reports, "JP Morgan" bank is engaged in the organization of the transaction.
This initiative has caused concern in the football community over the possible expansion of the tournament or holding the World Cup more often than once every four years.
It is also reported that after the end of the FIFA president's term in 2031, Infantino can take the position of commissioner of the new company and receive a multimillion-dollar salary in that position.
