Sheskharis, the Black Sea's largest oil terminal in Novorossiysk, has stopped loading oil onto tankers. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing shipping data, satellite images and ship tracking services.
It is noted that the termination of the terminal's activity took place as a result of increased Ukrainian attacks on ships in the Black and Azov seas.
Since the beginning of the year, an average of about 650,000 barrels of oil have been loaded through Sheskharis per day. The port shutdown has crippled a fifth of Russia's oil exports, which have averaged 3.6 million barrels a day this year.
Yesterday, Russian authorities warned all ships in Russia's exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea that the area is unsafe due to possible attacks by Ukrainian aerial and naval drones. As a result, grain export is also in danger. About a third of the Russian grain sold abroad is exported through Novorossiysk.
