India's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned amid student protests over the leaking of exam materials. "I have tendered my resignation to Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prevent anti-national forces from exploiting the situation in Jantar Mantar (an area where protests are taking place in New Delhi) and across the country, to maintain national unity, to ensure that legal technicalities do not hinder the future of any Indian student, and to ensure that our children devote their time to studies and focus on building their careers," Pradhan wrote in his letter. The minister admitted that "irregularities were discovered" during the examination of May 3, 2026.
He noted that the Indian government reacted immediately by starting an investigation and announcing the date of the re-investigation.
"From the very first day, I took responsibility for what happened and did not ignore this situation. I was determined not to let the exam mafia harm the prospects of even one talented student and to prevent any injustice to the students," he assured.
