Tehran on Thursday rejected the cease-fire proposal made by Washington by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, The New York Times reported, citing its sources. According to the newspaper, Iranian officials have stated that Tehran is not interested in an interim agreement that would leave the issue of control of the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.
The newspaper did not disclose the terms of the American offer. At the end of last week, the Prime Minister of Iraq finished his official visit to the United States, during which he held talks with the US President Donald Trump. On Thursday, Ali al-Zeidi arrived in Tehran at the invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
