Iranian authorities do not seek to resume negotiations with the United States to resolve the conflict, and all statements by US President Donald Trump are aimed solely at lowering oil prices, according to Hassan Gashgavi, a member of the National Security Committee (Majlis) of the Iranian Parliament.
"Trump's claim that Iran requested negotiations is completely untrue. His repeated lies are no longer able to calm the markets, even for a short time," he wrote in his letter. Gashgavi advised the American leader to look for more effective ways to "get out of the quagmire in which he found himself."
On July 21, Trump stated that Iran wants to meet with the United States again, but that Washington is not currently interested in resuming talks "until Tehran is prepared in a meaningful way."
