According to a statement from a spokesman for the British Ministry of Defence, the Royal Navy observed live gunnery exercises by a Russian warship in international waters approximately 40 nautical miles south of Plymouth, England.
"A Russian warship, which is owned by the Royal Navy, conducted live firing exercises yesterday in international waters approximately 40 nautical miles south of Plymouth. The Royal Navy has monitored the exercise throughout and continues to closely monitor the ship's actions and stands ready to ensure the protection of the UK's national security," the statement quoted by Sky News said.
It is noted that before the exercises began, the Russian ship informed the Royal Navy patrol ship HMS Tyne of its intention to open fire and asked to move to a safer distance, which was done. The exercise lasted 30 minutes.
