Terrorist threats are changing, but they exist all over the world, Alexander Zuev, Acting Secretary General of the United Nations for the fight against terrorism, stated in an interview with TASS.
"Unfortunately, terrorist threats evolve and change, but they exist all over the world, and today there is no region that is immune to terrorist attacks," he said. Zuev named West Africa and the Sahel, as well as the Middle East, as priority regions for the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office.
The UN Acting Deputy Secretary General explained that the focus on West Africa and the Sahel is due to "very serious reasons". He noted that in 2025, more than 50% of deaths from terrorist attacks worldwide will occur in this region.
